Poetry Blog
My Wanderings blog site has multiple blogs. The main blog is Wanderings. Along with the death and dying blog and the recent reads blog, I also have a poetry blog with my original poems.
I have been writing poetry since I was in college. In my junior year, there was a poetry class at a time slot that worked for me, so I took it for the fun of it. That class hooked me on verse and taught me how to appreciate poetry. I took that class for fun, not expecting much out of it. It ended up opening a whole new world for me. I have been reading and writing poetry regularly ever since.
A little while ago, I decided to put some of my poetry online and I created a sub-blog on my mjmwanderings site. These poems are mostly new, with a few from before I started the blog. Most of the poems are accompanied by photographs that I took and, sometimes, by the output of rendering and image manipulation programs that I wrote in Mathematica. I give credit at the bottom of the few pages where the photos are taken by other people. All my photos are taken on a cell phone.
I don’t have any particular style; I write in various forms. Sometimes I will emulate the style of a poet I am reading. Other times, I use whatever technique and form suit the subject matter. Also, remaining eclectic feels right for me and seems like it provides the best exercise of my creativity. Some poems are serious, some are silly, some are haiku, some are sonnets, etc...… There is something for everyone!
The poetry blog can be accessed HERE.
Enjoy!
